The story
Over a century ago, brothers Paul and Otto Froeschl looked at ordinary straight-nose pliers and had a simple idea: angle the nose for greater leverage and grip. That became the original Wilde Wrench, the first angle-nose pliers granted a US patent, and earned the family the trademark ‘The Pliersmiths.’ In 1955 the company moved to Hiawatha, Kansas, where it still operates today.
What sets Wilde apart in an era of outsourcing is how little has changed about where the work happens. Raw steel comes in, and finished tools go out — forged, machined and assembled under one roof in Hiawatha by a company now run by the third and fourth generations of the founding family. Much of Wilde’s output is private-label work for national brands, but the WILDE-branded line carries that same American-made pedigree, backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Why they matter
Hand tools are a commodity flooded with imports, so a fully US, vertically integrated forger is rare and worth supporting.
Buying Wilde keeps forging and machining jobs in small-town Kansas with a 100-year-old family company.
