Our assessment

Victor Mill calls itself “an American manufacturer using American workers,” based in Greenville, South Carolina, and says it is “proudly manufacturing product in the USA.” The company’s own account adds that it buys American-woven and printed fabric “whenever possible” — which means not always — so the label here is American Manufacturing: the cutting, sewing and quilting are domestic, and some of the cloth may not be.

Where Victor Mill products are made

American workers, in its own words
“It is refreshing to find an American manufacturer using American workers to produce quality products at a competitive price,” the company writes of itself — “Greenville, South Carolina based Victor Mill.”
Cutters, machine operators and quilters
The company’s own history describes its workforce as “excellent cutters, machine operators and quilters,” and it offers custom and private-label sewing, “proudly manufacturing product in the USA.”
The fabric caveat
The company says it buys fabric that is “American woven and printed” whenever possible. That is an honest qualifier, and it is why this profile uses American Manufacturing rather than Made in USA.

What this emblem covers. Victor Mill states that it manufactures its bedding and window treatments in Greenville, South Carolina with American workers. It buys American-woven fabric when it can, not always, and its product pages carry no origin line. The emblem covers the company’s domestic cutting, sewing and quilting, not the origin of every fabric.

The story

Victor Mill takes its name from a mill. The company’s own history, published on its blog, recalls that it started in the old Victor Mill factory in Greer, South Carolina, and later moved into the old American Spinning Mill in Greenville.

Like many American textile makers it took a hard hit when the economy turned in 2008, and it says it came back. Its current team “has been together since 2001,” and the company is now women-owned.

It makes comforters, quilts, duvet covers, coverlets, daybed sets, pillows and window treatments under the motto “Affordable luxury one piece at a time,” and takes custom and private-label work.

Why they matter

South Carolina’s Upstate was built on textile mills, and most of that work left for overseas decades ago. Victor Mill is a small cut-and-sew operation still doing it in Greenville.

Its case is flexibility as much as origin: making product domestically lets it “custom make small lots” so buyers “don’t have to buy the big container loads.”

And it is candid about fabric — American-woven when possible — which is a more honest statement than a blanket claim would be.
