Toilet Tattoos exists because Celeste Massullo did not like looking at her own toilet. That is, by her own account on the company’s site, the whole origin.
Massullo was not a bathroom-accessory person. She started in fashion, designing jewellery and specialty outerwear — feather coats worn by names well known enough to list — and was named Entrepreneur of the Year in the State of Ohio by Entrepreneur Magazine in 1991. Her company, Lena Fiore’, Inc., has been operating since 1987 and had already detoured into confectionery before it ever detoured into bathrooms.
In 2003 she looked at the existing options for covering a toilet lid and found them all wanting: dated, unhygienic, awkward to clean, awkward to fit and expensive. After about two years of development, Lena Fiore’, Inc. launched the patented Toilet Tattoos — an electrostatic vinyl decal that clings without glue, wipes clean and comes off again.
The company still trades from Bath, Ohio, and still sells the same patented idea in round and elongated fittings across a catalogue of designs.
