Where Qcells products are made
Qcells’ first US solar factory, opened 2019; expanded to over 5.1 GW of panel capacity, assembling products including the Q.TRON G2 residential panel.
“America’s first and only vertically integrated solar factory,” producing ingot, wafer, cell and module in one Georgia supply chain.
“In Ohio, we manufacture our FlexRack solar trackers, a U.S.-produced solution eligible for Domestic Content bonuses.”
What this emblem covers. Qcells names two of its own Georgia factories — Dalton and Cartersville — where it manufactures solar cells, modules and panels, plus a separate Ohio facility for FlexRack solar trackers. The emblem reflects that first-party, facility-specific manufacturing claim. Qcells’ global parent, Hanwha Group, is headquartered in South Korea; that is ownership, not the manufacturing location.
The story
Qcells is the US solar-manufacturing arm of Hanwha Qcells, part of South Korea’s Hanwha Group. Its US manufacturing story centers on two Georgia factories: Dalton, opened in 2019 as its first US solar plant, and Cartersville, which began solar cell production in 2024 as what the company calls “America’s first and only vertically integrated solar factory” — covering ingot, wafer, cell and module production in one supply chain.
Qcells states it has committed $2.8 billion to that Georgia buildout, with a combined capacity target of 8.4 GW and more than 4,000 US jobs across the two sites. A separate Ohio facility manufactures the company’s FlexRack solar trackers.
Why they matter
Most of the solar panels sold in the US are imported or assembled from imported cells; Qcells’ Cartersville factory is presented by the company as the first US plant to carry the process from raw ingot through finished module domestically.
A foreign-owned company running a US factory still puts American workers on an American production line — which is the manufacturing question this profile answers, separate from where the company’s global headquarters sits.
