What this emblem covers. Pro-Shot states that every product is designed, developed and produced in the USA, and that its firearm cleaning products are manufactured, assembled and shipped from its Taylorville facility. The emblem reflects that company-wide statement. Products sold under the KleenBore brand, which Pro-Shot acquired, were not separately checked.
The story
Pro-Shot began in 1982. Founder John E. Damarin, an avid marksman, told his son, “Son, we can make gun cleaning accessories better than that,” and the two started making their first products in the family’s one-car garage.
The family built the business in its home town of Taylorville, Illinois, where Pro-Shot is still manufactured. Over the years it added SplatterShot reactive targets and acquired the KleenBore brand.
John E. Damarin died in 2005. The company remains family owned and operated, and says a fourth generation of the family now works in the business.
Why they matter
In a category where buyers often cannot tell where a product was made, Pro-Shot says it plainly: design, production, assembly and shipping all happen at one facility in central Illinois.
It is a family manufacturer that has stayed in the same small city for more than four decades — the kind of American employer the Buy American Campaign exists to point buyers toward.
