America’s only stainless steel flatware manufacturer — made in Sherrill, New York.
✅ Made in USA
Where Liberty Tabletop products are made
Manufacturing
Made in the former Oneida Limited factory in Sherrill, NY — forging, finishing and knife assembly on site.
Materials
18/10 stainless steel bought from U.S. mills and required to be melted in the United States.
Workforce
Staffed by experienced flatware workers, many carried over from the Oneida era.
FTC note: The Made-in-USA claim applies to Liberty Tabletop’s flatware, which is genuinely U.S.-manufactured. Some items in its newer kitchen & home lines are only assembled in the USA from domestic and imported parts — those should be checked per product.
The story
For more than a century, Sherrill, New York was home to Oneida Limited, once the world’s largest flatware producer. Facing low-cost imports, Oneida moved production overseas and prepared to shut the Sherrill plant in the mid-2000s, threatening hundreds of jobs.
In 2005, two former Oneida employees — Matt Roberts and Greg Owens — bought the factory and its equipment and founded Sherrill Manufacturing, keeping American flatware alive in the same historic building. They launched the consumer brand Liberty Tabletop in 2011, and today it stands as the only company manufacturing stainless steel flatware in the United States.
When the last great American flatware plant was set to close, two of its own workers bought it and kept the lights on.
Why they matter
Liberty Tabletop is, by multiple accounts, the last remaining manufacturer of stainless steel flatware in the United States — after federal reviews found numerous “Made in USA” flatware claims were actually imports. For anyone who wants genuinely American-made silverware on the table, it is effectively the only choice, which makes it a real test of whether U.S. consumer manufacturing can survive imports.
