The story
Green Toys was founded in 2007 by two Bay Area parents, Robert von Goeben and Laurie Hyman, with a deceptively simple idea: turn post-consumer recycled plastic — chiefly used milk jugs — into safe, durable children’s toys made entirely in the United States.
Recovered milk jugs are cleaned, shredded, reprocessed into pellets and molded into toys, eliminating BPA, phthalates and PVC from the start. The brand grew from a garage startup into mainstream retailers, and reports recycling well over 100 million milk jugs — all while manufacturing in California.
