Where Field cookware is made

🏭

American foundries

Field pours its iron at foundries in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana, using recycled iron and traditional green-sand molds.

⚙️

Machined smooth

Each pan is machined to a precise, level, lightly textured cooking surface — the smooth finish prized in vintage Griswold and Wagner pans.

🪶

Lighter by design

By dialing in the wall thickness, Field skillets come out noticeably lighter than typical modern cast iron without losing heat retention.

Every Field skillet is cast, machined, and finished in the United States.

The story

Field Company started in 2016 when brothers Stephen and Chris Muscarella set out to recreate the cast iron they had inherited from their grandmother — vintage pans from the 1930s that were lighter and smoother than anything on store shelves today.

Backed by a $1.6 million Kickstarter campaign, the Field Skillet launched to a wave of home cooks who had been searching for exactly that. The company has since grown into a full line of American-made cast iron.

Rather than chase the rough, heavy pans that dominate the modern market, Field went back to the methods that made early American cast iron legendary: recycled iron, green-sand molds, and a carefully machined cooking surface.

Why they matter

Cast iron is one of the few categories where American manufacturing never fully disappeared — but the smooth, lightweight heritage-style pans mostly had. Field helped bring that craftsmanship back.

Choosing Field keeps skilled foundry and machining work in the United States and rewards a young company that bet on making a premium product here at home.
