Our assessment

Banixx’s flagship spray has two ingredients — “Active ingredient: Hydronium Ion Solution 2.5%. Inactive ingredient: filtered water” — and works by pH rather than by a caustic antiseptic. Three products across three families state “Made in the USA” twice each, in both the description and the specifications: the Horse & Pet Care Spray, the Wound Care Cream and the Medicated Shampoo. Three others carry no origin claim, and the company’s own FDA label reads “Manufactured for Creative Science” — contract manufacturing, with no plant disclosed. Hence American Manufacturing rather than a blanket claim.

Where Banixx products are made

The claim is stated twice per qualifying product
On the Horse & Pet Care Spray page the description closes “Made in the USA.” and the product details repeat it as a standalone line. The same double placement appears on the Wound Care Cream and the Medicated Shampoo — three distinct product families, each claimed in both prose and specification. That redundancy is a small thing, but it is the difference between a considered claim and a stray phrase.
Production is contract-manufactured to the company’s specification
The company’s own FDA-filed label for Banixx Medicated Shampoo reads “Manufactured for Creative Science, 1700 Albany Place SE, Orange City, IA 51041,” with Creative Science as the labeler of record. Note the wording: manufactured for, not by. That is standard contract-manufacturing language, so the Orange City address is the responsible party’s office and not a verified factory. This profile does not call it one.
The formulations are deliberately minimal, and that is a manufacturing fact
The flagship spray is hydronium ion solution and filtered water — no filler, no fragrance, no dye. The medicated shampoo is built on “Chlorhexidine Gluconate 4%” in what the label states is a soap-free formula. Minimal, water-based antimicrobials are the low-margin, high-volume liquids most often sent offshore, which is what makes domestic production of them worth pointing at.

American Manufacturing is the correct label. Three products across three families carry an unambiguous first-party “Made in the USA” statement, which is genuine SKU-level evidence and rules out treating the brand as unverified. But an unqualified Made in USA badge would overstate it: Banixx for Chixx, the Livestock Care Spray and the Premium Liniment carry no origin claim at all, the company names no US production facility, and its own FDA label indicates the product is made for it rather than by it. There is a brand-level Made-in-USA badge on the company page, but it is baked into an image with no readable text, so we do not quote it as a sentence.

The story

Banixx is not a product line Creative Science invented. It was an independent animal-health company that Creative Science acquired and now runs as one of its portfolio businesses — which is why it appears under “Our Companies” on the parent’s site rather than only under “Brands,” and why its old standalone web address now redirects into the parent site. The date it joined the group is not published, so this profile does not state one.

What the product does is unusual enough to explain the brand’s survival through those ownership changes. Rather than an alcohol or iodine antiseptic, Banixx works on pH: “The unique pH and high oxygen levels create an acidic environment which reduces toxicity levels of bacteria while increasing antimicrobial activity.” The company states it is “non staining,” has “no clinical odor or color,” and is “safe to use around the eyes, ears and mouth.”

It is also engineered for the place it actually gets stored. The company notes that the spray “remains viable in all weather conditions ranging from freezing to hot and humid, making it ideal for storing in the barn or trailer,” and the liniment uses a “non-aerosol BOV (bag-on-valve) system for precise application, ensuring no wasted product.” The line now spans horses, dogs, cats, livestock and backyard poultry, and sells through Tractor Supply, SmartPak, Valley Vet, Dover Saddlery and the major veterinary distributors.

Why they matter

Animal wound care is a category built on things that hurt. Most of the aisle is alcohol- or iodine-based, and the practical result is that animals fight treatment — an owner can only treat what the horse will stand still for. A sting-free American-made alternative solves a compliance problem, not a marketing one.

A two-ingredient, water-based antimicrobial is exactly the kind of product that normally gets imported. There is almost nothing in the bottle and almost no margin in it; shipping water is expensive. Domestic production of a formula this plain is a more meaningful signal than domestic assembly of something complicated.

The barn-durability engineering is a quality argument for making it here. A product specified to survive an unheated tack room from freezing to hot and humid, in packaging chosen so nothing is wasted, reflects decisions made by people who know how American horse owners actually store things.

Banixx questions

Is Banixx made in the USA?

Several of its core products are, according to Banixx’s own product pages. The Horse & Pet Care Spray, the Wound Care Cream and the Medicated Shampoo each state “Made in the USA” in both the product description and the product specifications. Not every Banixx product carries that claim — Banixx for Chixx, the Livestock Care Spray and the Premium Liniment list no country of origin. The company also does not publish where the products are made, and its FDA label reads “Manufactured for Creative Science,” which indicates contract manufacturing to the company’s specification. That is why we label Banixx American Manufacturing rather than a blanket Made in USA.

Where is Banixx based?

Orange City, Iowa. Banixx is part of Creative Science, which publishes its address as 1700 Albany Place SE, Orange City, IA 51041 and describes itself as “Headquartered in Orange City, Iowa.” Older listings around the web still place Banixx in North Carolina; those are out of date. The brand’s old standalone web address now redirects to Creative Science, which is the current home for Banixx product information.

When was Banixx founded?

Banixx does not publish a founding year, and we will not guess one. What is documented is its current structure: Banixx is one of nine animal-health companies operating under Creative Science, which is itself a CIMA Animal Health company, alongside Arenus Animal Health, Kinetic Vet, Infiniti Medical, Orthomed and others. The date Banixx joined the group is not published.

What makes Banixx different from an iodine or alcohol wound spray?

The mechanism, and what it leaves out. The Horse & Pet Care Spray contains just two ingredients — hydronium ion solution 2.5% and filtered water — and works by pH rather than by a caustic antiseptic: “The unique pH and high oxygen levels create an acidic environment which reduces toxicity levels of bacteria while increasing antimicrobial activity.” The company states it is “Made without the use of steroids or alcohol,” is “non staining” with “no clinical odor or color,” and is “safe to use around the eyes, ears and mouth.” It is also specified to stay viable “in all weather conditions ranging from freezing to hot and humid.”
