Where Epic Water Filters products are made
“The Pure XP Filter is manufactured in Epic Water Filters’ own facility in Palmetto, Florida — not contracted out, not assembled overseas.” The product pages list the plant as EPA Est. 102754-FL-1 and describe it as NSF-certified.
The company’s origin language is about the filter: “Filter Assembled in the USA with premium U.S. and imported filtration media,” and the pitcher page’s badge reads “Filters Made in USA.” The pitcher and dispenser bodies make no claim.
Epic is headquartered in Niwot, Colorado. Manufacturing is in Palmetto, Florida. The two are different places and this profile keeps them apart.
What this emblem covers. Epic Water Filters states that its filters are made in its own Palmetto, Florida facility, using filtration media sourced from the U.S. and Japan. The emblem covers the filters. The pitchers, dispensers and bottles sold with them carry no origin statement and are not covered.
The story
Epic Water Filters was founded in April 2015 by Ash, who, the company says, had moved to the United States from Asia and was “deeply impacted by the widespread plastic pollution” he had seen. The first product was a filter bottle, aimed at places where tap water could not be trusted.
In early 2016 Ash met Joel in Boulder, Colorado, and the two reincorporated the company. Joel’s connection to the problem was personal: his wife was among those affected by the 1993 cryptosporidium outbreak in Milwaukee.
Filter production now runs in the company’s own facility in Palmetto, Florida, and its team page lists a head of filter engineering and manufacturing along with a production manager and production operators.
Why they matter
Most pitcher filters sold in the United States are made overseas. Epic runs a filter plant of its own and says so specifically — “not contracted out, not assembled overseas.”
It is also exact about what it does not claim. The media is partly imported and the pitchers are not labelled US-made; the company’s own wording keeps the claim on the filter, where the manufacturing happens.
The company runs a filter recycling program and says it ships in compostable packaging — consistent with a business that started as a response to plastic waste.
