Our assessment

Sweet Feet & Beak states origin on the individual product, and it states it on twenty-seven of the forty-eight items in its catalogue, spread across five different product families. The Safety Perch pedicure perches read “Made in USA” in every size. The Whirly Bird and Roll Swing read “Handmade in the USA.” The Tweeter Totter rockers and the weaning stands read the same. The Super Shredder Ball reads “Now all sizes made in the USA!” Twenty-one items say nothing, and the profile names them rather than rounding up.

Where Sweet Feet & Beak products are made

The perches and swings carry the statement
The Safety Perch pedicure perch reads “Made in USA” in all five sizes. The Whirly Bird and Roll Swing read “Handmade in the USA,” as do the Tweeter Totter rockers and the weaning stands.
So do the shredding toys
The Super Shredder Ball reads “Now all sizes made in the USA!” and carries a “Made in the USA” bullet. The company says on its homepage that “we use only Safe Shred™ cotton rope in all our US made shredding toys.”
The pumice perch line is the gap, and it is the best seller
The Safety Pumice Perch carries no origin statement in any size, and neither do the moulded plastic items. That is checked twice and reported as found. Any product-level claim on this brand needs the individual page.

What this emblem covers. Twenty-seven of Sweet Feet & Beak’s forty-eight catalogue items carry an explicit Made-in-USA or Handmade-in-the-USA statement on their own page, across five product families. Twenty-one do not, and the unclaimed group includes the Safety Pumice Perch line. The company does not name the facility where production happens. American Manufacturing is the accurate emblem here.

The story

A bird spends almost its whole life standing. That simple fact is the entire premise of Sweet Feet & Beak, whose signature product is a perch with two different surfaces: smooth on top, where the foot rests, and rough on the sides, where the bird grips and wears its nails down naturally.

The company says it holds “one of the only perch patents” in the field, and that the design came out of working “with Aviary Vets and sanctuaries to review and develop improvements.” It has been at it since 1991, family owned and operated, and counts “over 18 national product awards.”

The rest of the range follows the same logic — swings and rockers moulded from what the company describes as “incredibly tough plastic, the same material used to line hockey rinks,” weaning stands for hand-fed chicks, and shredding toys built around a material problem most bird owners have thought about at three in the morning.

Why they matter

That material problem is worth spelling out, because it is the clearest example of this company thinking like a vet rather than a toy maker. Ordinary cotton rope frays into long strands, and long strands wrap around toes and necks. Sweet Feet & Beak says it uses “only Safe Shred™ cotton rope in all our US made shredding toys,” engineered to break into short threads instead.

The same care runs through the materials list: “The pumice used in our natural perches is cosmetic grade,” and “Our cardboard is food safe, as is our shredded paper. The glue we use is not only non-toxic, it is safe for consumption.” The Super Shredder Ball was named Best New Bird Product at the 2010 Global Pet Expo and turned up on Good Morning America.

Where the company is less consistent is origin marking. Twenty-seven products state it; twenty-one, including the pumice perch line, do not. Since that line is one of its best sellers, a single sentence from Acworth would move a good deal of this catalogue from unclaimed to claimed.

Sweet Feet & Beak questions

Are Sweet Feet & Beak products made in the USA?

Most are, and the company marks them individually. The Safety Perch pedicure perches, the Whirly Bird and Roll Swing swings, the Tweeter Totter rockers, the weaning stands and shredding toys such as the Super Shredder Ball each state Made in USA or Handmade in the USA. Some items, including the Safety Pumice Perch line, carry no origin statement — check the individual product page.

What makes the pedicure perch different?

It has a smooth top surface for foot comfort and rough sides for grip and natural nail filing, rather than a uniformly abrasive surface. The company says it holds one of the only perch patents in the field.

Are the toys safe for birds?

The company says it uses only Safe Shred™ cotton rope, which shreds into short threads rather than long entangling strands; that its cardboard and shredded paper are food safe; and that its glue “is not only non-toxic, it is safe for consumption.”

How long have they been making them?

Since 1991, family owned and operated, from Acworth, Georgia — with more than eighteen national product awards along the way.
