Where Bee Hive Candles products are made
“All our candles are made by hand in a new workshop we built near our home in the Mt. Baker foothills in 2006,” the company writes, and its FAQ is blunter still: “Every single beeswax candle we sell is made by hand, by us, in our warehouse located in WA state.” They decline wholesale, private label and custom orders outright, which is consistent with a small shop that pours its own.
Most candle brands say nothing at all about where wax comes from. This one names four states: “Our source of beeswax comes from trusted beekeepers in Washington, Minnesota, Montana, and North Dakota,” alongside the plainer “All of our beeswax is made in the USA. We use only 100% cotton wicks.”
The per-SKU line appears on the candles themselves — the 3×6 pillar page reads “hand made using a lead-free 100% cotton wick and 100% pure beeswax from the USA,” and the travel tin repeats it. The three candle-care accessories (multi-tool, stone honeycomb plate, care box) carry no origin statement. Nor do the tin containers or the wick cotton: what is claimed is the wax and the pouring.
Made in USA fits a company that pours by hand in a workshop it built, names the four states its raw material comes from, and puts the claim on the candle pages rather than only on an About page. The honest carve-out is the accessory line and the bought-in components — tins, wick cotton — which the company does not claim and this page does not either.
The story
“Founded in 2000, Bee Hive Candles began on a tiny kitchen stove in our small home in the foothills of the Pacific Northwest,” the company writes. In 2006 it moved production into a workshop built near the house, in Maple Falls, Washington, about ten miles from the Canadian border.
The range is what a beeswax chandler makes: round and square pillars, tapers, votives, tea lights, travel tins, sculpted candles, essential-oil candles, and hand-rolled honeycomb tapers, pillars and advent sets. Wicks are lead-free 100% cotton. Dye-added solid-colour candles have been discontinued.
It is still small and says so — “we’re still a small, family-run business” — and it turns down the work that would make it bigger. No wholesale, no private label, no custom candles. The warehouse is not open to the public.
Why they matter
Beeswax is one of the easiest categories in which to be quietly misled. Candles sold as beeswax are frequently paraffin blends, and wax itself is a heavily imported commodity — so “poured in the USA” can sit on top of wax from anywhere.
Bee Hive Candles closes both gaps in its own words: 100% beeswax, and wax bought from beekeepers in four named American states. That is a sourcing statement, not a slogan, and it is checkable.
The refusal to wholesale or private-label is the structural proof. A company that will not put its wax in someone else’s box is a company whose production is small enough to still be its own.

Bee Hive Candles questions
Are Bee Hive candles made in the USA?
Yes. The company’s FAQ states: “Every single beeswax candle we sell is made by hand, by us, in our warehouse located in WA state,” and the pillar and travel-tin product pages each say the candle is hand made with “100% pure beeswax from the USA.”
Where does the beeswax come from?
American beekeepers in four named states. “All of our beeswax is gathered from the USA. Our source of beeswax comes from trusted beekeepers in Washington, Minnesota, Montana, and North Dakota.”
Where is Bee Hive Candles based?
Maple Falls, Washington. The company publishes 8582 Tilbury Rd, Maple Falls WA 98266, and notes that the warehouse is not open to the public.
Does the claim cover everything they sell?
No. The candles carry it; the three candle-care accessories — the multi-tool, stone honeycomb plate and care box set — carry no origin statement, and the travel-tin containers and wick cotton have no stated origin either. This profile claims the wax and the pouring, which is what the company claims.
