Luxor says it has been creating workspace solutions in Northern Illinois since 1946 and is still there today. Longevity in a single region is the sort of claim that is easy to check and hard to fake.
The origin language sits on the Tuffy product pages rather than the About page — “Proudly made in the USA and constructed of injection-molded thermoplastic resin.” That is where a buyer should look, and it is why the claim here is scoped to the carts.
A Tuffy AV cart pairs moulded plastic shelves with locking 20-gauge steel cabinets rated to 200 lb. Running injection moulding and sheet-metal fabrication against the same product is the part that keeps the work domestic.

The story
Luxor has been in the same corner of Northern Illinois since 1946, which in the workspace-furniture business is an unusual amount of continuity. The company’s own framing is plain about it: creating functional workspace solutions in Northern Illinois since 1946, and still there today.
The product that carries the name is the Tuffy cart — a moulded thermoplastic utility cart on casters, the kind that lives in a school corridor, a hospital supply room or behind a stage. It is not a glamorous object. It is an object that gets pushed into doorframes for twenty years.
Around that core the company has assembled a wider workspace catalogue: standing desks, whiteboards and glassboards, room dividers, device charging stations, and the SideTrak portable monitor line. Those are sourced differently, and Luxor does not claim them as domestic.
Luxor is now a wholly owned subsidiary of EBSCO Industries, the privately held Alabama group. The Waukegan operation, and the carts, stayed put.
Why they matter
Institutional furniture is bought on a replacement cycle measured in decades, which makes origin a practical question rather than a sentimental one. A cart that fails in year four has to be replaced by whoever is still making that model.
