MERV-rated air filters and NIOSH-certified respirators, made in Houston, Texas
✅ Made in USA
Where BNX products are made
Houston, Texas
All BNX air filters, masks and PPE are produced at the company’s Houston facility with an American workforce.
Certified and registered
The plant is CDC, FDA and EPA registered and holds NIOSH N95 approval as well as KN95 GB2626-2019 certification.
Electrostatic media
BNX makes its own meltblown filter media and electrostatically charges it, which is how it reaches MERV 13 efficiency at low pressure drop.
BNX states that all of its air filters, masks and PPE are manufactured in the United States at its Houston, Texas facility. Filter frames, media and packaging are produced domestically; as with any manufactured good, some raw inputs originate in global commodity markets.
The story
BNX Converting, LLC was organized in Houston, Texas and launched the BNX brand in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic exposed how completely the United States had offshored its respirator and filter-media supply. Rather than import, the company built the capacity here.
That decision required more than an assembly line. Making an N95 respirator or a MERV 13 filter domestically means making the meltblown media too — the nonwoven fabric that does the actual filtering — and then earning the certifications that let you sell it. BNX did both: the Houston plant is CDC, FDA and EPA registered and carries NIOSH N95 approval.
The consumer-facing result is TruFilter, the pleated HVAC filter line sold in MERV 8, 11 and 13 grades. The engineering emphasis is unusual for the category: BNX optimizes for low pressure drop as hard as it does for capture efficiency, so a high-MERV filter does not choke an older air handler.
An American filter plant built during a shortage — and still running now that the shortage is over.
Why they matter
Home air filters are close to a pure commodity, and almost all of them are imported. A filter is also one of the few products people buy on a recurring schedule for years, which makes where it is made a compounding decision rather than a one-time one.
BNX matters because it kept a domestic filtration capability alive after the emergency that created it passed. Meltblown media capacity is strategic infrastructure — the country discovered in 2020 exactly what happens without it — and the only way it survives between crises is if people buy the ordinary furnace filters in ordinary years.
For buyers, the practical case is simpler: certified US-made filtration, sized for standard residential HVAC, at prices that compete with imports.

Frequently asked questions
Are BNX air filters made in the USA?
Yes. BNX Converting states that all of its air filters, masks and PPE are produced at its Houston, Texas facility with an American workforce.
What does the MERV rating mean?
MERV measures how much of the airborne particulate a filter captures. BNX sells MERV 8 for dust and pet dander, MERV 11 for allergens, and MERV 13 for finer particles including smoke and bacteria-sized aerosols.
Will a MERV 13 filter strain my HVAC system?
BNX engineers its media for low pressure drop alongside high efficiency, specifically so its MERV 13 filters work on older air handlers as well as new ones. If your system is marginal, check your manufacturer’s guidance before stepping up.
Is BNX the same as TruFilter?
TruFilter is BNX’s air filter product line. Both are made by BNX Converting, LLC in Houston.
