The story
Ernst Manufacturing started in 1981 with a problem every mechanic knows: sockets do not stay where you put them. Open a drawer, close it hard, and a organized set becomes a pile. Ernst’s answer was the socket rail with twist-lock clips — a simple mechanical idea that holds a socket by friction until you deliberately twist it free.
Four decades later the company still operates out of Sandy, Oregon, a town of about 12,000 at the base of Mount Hood. The catalog has grown past 200 products — Socket Boss multi-drive rails, Gripper wrench organizers, plier and screwdriver trays, magnetic shop solutions — but the manufacturing has not moved.
