Where West Paw products are made

🏭

Bozeman, Montana

West Paw built its permanent factory in Bozeman in 1998 and still molds its Zogoflex and Seaflex toys there with its own production team.

♻️

Zogoflex & Seaflex

A USA-made proprietary plastic that can be ground up and remade into new toys. Seaflex blends in 12% reclaimed ocean-bound plastic.

🌎

Plush is different

Sewn plush goods and some treats come from select international partners — West Paw states this plainly on its own site.

West Paw manufactures its Zogoflex and Seaflex toys in Bozeman, Montana. Its plush and sewn lines are made by overseas partners, and some treat ingredients are sourced from American family farms. Check the specific product before assuming it is US-made.

The story

In 1996 Spencer Williams, a Montana native, bought a small pet toy company in Livingston with five employees and a team of home-sewers. Two years later he moved it to Bozeman and built a real factory. Thirty years on, West Paw employs over 100 people there and ships to more than 6,000 U.S. retailers and 40-plus countries.

The product that made them is Zogoflex — a proprietary plastic that is tough enough to survive a determined chewer and can be ground up and remolded into new toys when it finally gives out. If a dog does destroy one, West Paw replaces it free. That combination of a domestic factory and a genuine take-back loop is rare in pet products, where almost everything is molded offshore.

“Made by us. Designed for the love of pets and the planet.” — West Paw

Why they matter

West Paw is Montana’s first Benefit Corporation and the first pet product company to become a Certified B Corporation. That is a legal commitment, not a marketing badge — it obliges the company to weigh workers, community and environment alongside profit.

They also do something we wish more brands did: they are honest about what is not made here. The plush line is produced overseas and the company says so on its own website rather than burying it. A manufacturer willing to draw that line clearly is easier to trust on the products it does make in Montana.
