Where Tervis products are made

Tervis’s Classic insulated drinkware is manufactured at the company’s North Venice, Florida facility, where a proprietary ultrasonic-welding process permanently seals the double walls. The stainless steel “Travelers” line is produced overseas.

Imported stainless

The stainless steel Travelers line is made overseas and carries a 5-year, not lifetime, guarantee.

Tervis is American-made and family-owned for its Classic plastic drinkware; its stainless steel line is imported. Claims here reflect the company’s own statements about where each line is produced.

The story

Tervis traces its roots to 1946, when engineers Frank Cotter and G. Howlett Davis created the first permanently sealed, double-walled insulated tumbler and combined their surnames to name it. In 1967 Florida entrepreneur John C. “Jake” Winslow bought the rights and began making the tumblers in Florida, selling them dock to dock and fairway to fairway on a promise of quality, customization and a lifetime guarantee.

Today the Classic tumblers and water bottles are still made at Tervis’s North Venice, Florida facility, where the company’s signature ultrasonic welding fuses the double walls. Under third-generation CEO Rogan Donelly, Tervis added a stainless steel “Travelers” line produced overseas — so the honest picture is mixed, with the iconic American-made plastic tumbler still at the heart of the brand.

The Classic line carries a lifetime guarantee and is genuinely made in Florida — that’s the Tervis to look for.

Why they matter

Insulated drinkware is a category flooded with overseas production, which makes a family-owned Florida manufacturer worth supporting. Every Classic Tervis tumbler bought is a vote for American jobs and for keeping a 75-year-old manufacturing process on U.S. soil.

Tervis is also refreshingly transparent: the Classic line is American-made with a lifetime guarantee, while the stainless line is imported with a shorter one. Rewarding the American-made line encourages more domestic production.
