America’s oldest and largest cast iron cookware foundry — still poured in South Pittsburg, Tennessee since 1896.
Where Lodge cookware is made
Manufacturing
South Pittsburg, Tennessee, USA. Every piece of Lodge seasoned cast iron is melted, molded, and finished at the company’s two foundries in the same small Tennessee town where it began in 1896.
Foundries
Lodge runs two foundries in South Pittsburg. A second foundry that opened in 2017 raised capacity by roughly 75% — an American manufacturer expanding at home rather than offshoring.
Seasoning & finishing
In 2002 Lodge became the first cast-iron maker to season its cookware at the foundry, creating the now-standard ready-to-use finish. All of it happens in the USA.
The story
In 1896, Joseph Lodge founded the Blacklock Foundry in the small Tennessee town of South Pittsburg. A fire leveled it in 1910; three months later the company was reborn as Lodge Manufacturing. More than 125 years on, it is still owned and run by Joseph Lodge’s descendants — one of the last great American cookware foundries, and the oldest.
Why it matters
A Lodge skillet is the rare American-made product that outlives the person who buys it. Choosing one keeps a 125-year-old Tennessee foundry — and the families who run it — at work, instead of sending those dollars to imported cookware built to be replaced. It is buying American at its most durable.
