Full Moon Pet makes dog treats and dog food to human-food standards in the United States. The company states that all of its meat is sourced from family farms in the USA and that all Full Moon products are made in the USA in USDA-inspected kitchens. That matters more in this category than most: jerky treats are one of the most import-dependent pet products on the shelf, and a great many are cooked overseas.

Where Full Moon Pet products are made

🇺🇸

American family farms

Full Moon states that all of its meat is sourced from family farms in the USA. Its poultry comes from Perdue Family Farms — the founder is a member of the fourth-generation Perdue family — and its beef is described as ranch raised on American family farms.

Human-food kitchens

Products are cooked in USDA-inspected, GFSI-certified human-food kitchens to human-edible standards rather than in feed-grade facilities. Every ingredient is traceable, which is the operational reason the company can claim a clean recall record.

A short ingredient list

No glycerin, no corn, wheat or soy, and no artificial preservatives or flavors. The Beef Jerky is slow-cooked in small batches from US ranch-raised beef with cassava root and rosemary — close to the whole list.

Origin, stated precisely. Full Moon’s origin claim is a catalog-wide statement made directly in its FAQ: “All meat is sourced from family farms in the USA… All Full Moon products are made in the USA in USDA-inspected kitchens.” Product pages back it up individually — the Beef Jerky page reads “We proudly make our Beef Jerky right here in the USA,” and the chicken jerky, nugget and fillet listings carry Made in the USA in their titles. Both food lines, the Freshly Crafted frozen meals and the Pure Protein air-dried range, are described the same way. The one thing to note is that this is the company’s own blanket sourcing claim rather than a published per-ingredient breakdown; the meat sourcing is stated clearly, minor ingredients are not itemized by origin. In a category where imported jerky is the norm, this is an unusually clean position.

The story

Full Moon Pet was established in 2011 by founder Ryan Perdue, a member of the fourth-generation Perdue poultry family and, by the company’s own description, a devoted dog dad. The heritage is older than the brand, but 2011 is the year Full Moon itself began.

The premise came from a real gap. Jerky treats are among the most popular things dog owners buy and, at the time, among the least transparent — many were cooked overseas, sweetened with glycerin, and had been the subject of years of pet-owner anxiety over imported treats. Full Moon’s answer was to cook in the same kind of kitchen that makes food for people.

That is the operational core: USDA-inspected, GFSI-certified human-food facilities, human-edible standards, traceable ingredients, meat from American family farms. The ingredient decks are correspondingly short — the Beef Jerky is beef, cassava root and rosemary.

The line has since grown past treats into two food ranges, Freshly Crafted frozen meals and Pure Protein air-dried food at ninety percent real meat, and into national retail through Target, Walmart, Kroger, HEB and Albertsons. The company reports zero recalls, FDA or voluntary, since its founding, and says it has donated more than a million treats to shelters and rescues.

Why they matter

Pet food is a category where “where was this made” is not a preference question. Imported jerky treats have a documented history of scaring American dog owners, and the supply chains behind them are often long and hard to audit.

Full Moon Pet’s response was structural rather than promotional. Cooking in human-food kitchens is more expensive and more regulated than cooking in feed-grade plants, and sourcing meat from American family farms costs more than sourcing it on the global commodity market. The company chose both and built the brand on being able to say so.

It is also a case where American manufacturing and American agriculture are the same story. Every bag traces back to US farms and US kitchens, which means the premium buyers pay stays with domestic ranchers, growers and food workers rather than leaving the country at the first step.
